John Arender
Sports were my first love. First it was baseball, then it was football, and then ultimate frisbee. I love competing and being a part of a team. I quickly realized that I wasn't going to go pro in any of those, so I decided to stick to my second love, creating art.
I love to create, in fact, I believe I was created to create. The the world feels off balance when I am not making something new. I picked up a camera while I was a senior in high school, and I haven't looked back since.
I started my own freelance videography and photography company while I was a student at The University of Southern Mississippi. After graduating with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations, I was able to partner with Hattiesburg High School Athletics to create a digital presence that is unprecedented in Mississippi.
I started from the ground up, from scratch. With my video content driving the page, we reached 2,500 likes on Facebook, 1,000 followers on Instagram, and 700 followers on Twitter within three months. The weekly football "highlight video" averaged 25k-50k views a week. I was blown away by the reception of the content, so I decided to see how I could expand the content.
I expanded my arsenal of skills with design, and along with that motion content. During football season, I direct a weekly coaches live show which is broadcasted on Facebook and Periscope, which also doubles as a weekly podcast.
I can wear many hats; photographer, videographer, designer, writer, director, but at the end of the day I am just a creator. Let's create together.
